Founders’ Story
MendaNation began with a partnership rooted in shared conviction. Adam and Sharelle Mendenhall set out to build something bigger than a coffee brand a mission-driven company that gives back to the country they love. To bring that vision to life, they joined forces with Mike Browne, a Q Grader whose obsession with coffee excellence matches their own commitment to purpose.
Together, they set out to create something rare: coffee exceptional enough to earn a place among the world’s finest, made by a company devoted to mending the nation that made it possible.

My love for coffee started simply in my own kitchen, roasting beans out of pure curiosity. That curiosity became obsession. I started hunting for the world’s rarest, finest beans, and sharing what I found with others who understood the pursuit.
The deeper I went, the more I wanted to master the craft at its highest level. So I became a Q Grader one of only 400 certified in the United States.
What is a Q Grader?
A Q Grader is a master cupper, trained to evaluate Arabica coffee with scientific precision. Earning the title means surviving twenty-two exams across five grueling days theory, technique, and blind cupping tests that leave no room for guesswork. It is one of the most demanding certifications in the industry, which is exactly why it’s among the most respected.
Q Graders set the international benchmark for excellence, connecting coffee professionals around the world through a shared standard: only the exceptional makes the cut.
In 2012, that pursuit earned me a seat on the judging panel at the World Coffee Convention in Seattle an honor I never imagined for a kid who started roasting in his kitchen. What I’ve come to understand is this: our industry runs on genuine passion, not shortcuts.
I bring that same standard to every batch of MendaNation coffee. My promise to you is simple joy, in every single sip.
